Winter Skills Course

Are you ready to move on to winter hillwalking? If so, this is the course for you.

Over two days you'll learn about the challenges of the Scottish mountains in winter and how to manage these challenges effectively.

We'll look at suitable equipment, the use of crampons and ice axes, navigation, avalanche risk, weather and more. 

Day 1

Our first day will start with a coffee and/or breakfast roll in a cafe where we'll chat through plans for the weekend and look at some handy resources that will help you to plan your winter adventures. We'll then head out to find some snow where we'll look at practical winter skills.

Day 2

The aim of this day is to put your skills into practice by going on a winter journey. You will be invovled in the planning of the day using the knowledge you gained the previous day.

We do not hire winter equipment but can recommend outlets that do if you need it.

We've graded this adventure as blue because it is aimed at beginners but everything in winter is a bit tougher so nothing is green!
