The Cairngorm Plateau

The Cairngorm plateau is one of the top draws for the hillwalker in Scotland. Home to a unique landscape with expansive and varied mountain terrain. The plateau is vast and the mountains widespread. It can take several trips to the area to visit every summit and in poor visibility your navigation, stamina and endurance will be tested.

Beinn Mheadhoin is a tricky hill to get to. It's a long way however you choose but it's a hill full of character and this route shows off its best sides. We'll ascend to the Plateau and over to Ben MacDui before crossing over to Derry Cairngorm. From here we drop down to Loch Etchachan, the highest loch in Scotland. The ascent of Beinn Mheadhoin is an out and back made fun by the scramble up the tors to reach the true summit. To finish the day we'll drop down to Loch Avon…
