About the event
Ever wanted to watch the sun rise on the longest day from the top of a Munro? This is the trip for you! Bivying is a type of very basic camping that involves sleeping inside a waterproof bag instead of a tent. You stuff in your sleeping bag and sleeping mat then lie and watch the stars. This is a relatively straight forward walk but we've made it a red adventure purely because bivying is a bit rougher than camping. Mt Keen is Scotland's most easterly Munro so has the most uninterrupted view to the sun rise.
We'll meet at the carpark in Glen Esk at 5pm and begin our hike to the summit.
We'll plan to eat dinner on the summit and watch the sun going down before retreating to our bivy for the night. We'll then wake up for the sun rise.
Should the weather be inclement we may choose a different bivy spot but we'll aim to be as close to the summit as possible.
