About the event
There is no quick fix to the Glen Affric Munros. Whether you camp in the glen or do a mega round of Mullardoch these hills are a hard physical effort. Last year we had groups out on the most western summits so this year we're back for the middle summits of Mam Sodhail, Carn Eige and Beinn Fhionnlaidh. It's a long way to reach Carn Eige but the route is stunning (once the bog is over that is). We ascent a manmade staircase (yes really) before reachiung a dramatic ridgeline. By then the horrors of the bog will be forgotten! The ridge is as exciting as you'd like it to be and scrambling and exposure can be avoided by choice. The ridge ultimately leads to the summit of Carn Eige, the highest mountain north of the Great Glen. Beinn Fhionnlaidh sits to the north and is an awkward wee gremlin to reach. It adds a lot of effort to our day but if we don't include it then however you choose to return to it is also a huge effort! There's quite a drop and reascent before we return to almost the summit of Carn Eige. We'll then wander over to Mam Sodhail. The summit shelter and old OS features are fascinating and give a good insight to the history of the OS! The last leg of our journey sees us cross the former Munro of Sgurr na Lapaich before descending back to Glen Affric and returning to our vehicles.

We've graded this adventure as black because it's a massive day out. All technical difficulties can be avoided but a very good level of fitness will be required in order to complete this walk.
