About the event
Knoydart is often referred to as the last great wilderness in the UK. It is certainly some of the remotest, challenging and most beautiful scenery in the West Highlands. To get to these remote mountains you will need to be fit, resilient, and have good movement on often pathless steep ground.
In the past, we've run this weekend as an expedition from Kinlohchourn but this year we're headed to Inverie. We'll be staying in the fantastic, community owned, Knoydart Foundation Bunkhouse. This is a mixed dorm and you'll be sharing with other group members.
You'll need to book your ferry separately so please remember to do this in plenty of time. This is not included in order to allow people flexibility of arrival/departure. The bunkhouse has kitchen facilities but we'd recommend eating out at the Old Forge Pub. This is famed as Scotland's remotest pub and has been community owned for a number of years now.
We'll split the weekend into two days walking and which day we choose for each walk will be weather dependent. Sunday will be an early start as we need to ensure we are back for the 6:30pm ferry. Some people may choose to stay an extra night.
Ladhar Bheinn is our priority as it is more weather reliant than the other hills so we'll do this on the best day. This mountain is stunning and has some short sections of scrambling. It has phenomenal views and is a big day for one mountain.
Rough Route Stats
Distance: 23km
Ascent: 1650m
Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn make for a big day too but the going is slightly easier with minimal technical difficulty.
Rough Route Stats
Distance: 26km
Ascent: 1400m
We've graded this a black adventure as these are big mountain days in remote countryside.
